Submission Guidelines

What we’re eager to publish, plus best practices

We want to publish stories that will matter todaynext year, and if we’re lucky… for decades. This pursuit forces us to have strict editorial standards for the submissions we accept. We receive many inquiries and submissions, and will only consider those that fit the criteria below.

Align with our vision

Each story must align with our vision. Our vision is promoting uplifting stories about the individuals and teams lifting humanity and creating a better world. We want to showcase the vibrant culture, traditions, people and places across five continents that comprise the Creole identity. Kreol Magazine aims to become a medium and a banner for all Creole-speaking countries and communities, celebrating their unique ethnic and cultural identity and highlighting their culture on the world stage.

Tell a Story

Each article should include a story, no matter how brief, to draw the readers into your story. We publish stories between 800- 3,000 words. The types and format of stories we publish include: high quality listicles, journalistic works of art, historical articles, fascinating interviews, genealogy, culture, music, review of events, fashion, sport and more.

Entertain & Educate

Each story should try to tie into an important topic (whether its importance was lost in the past, exists now, or will be vital in the future). Our stories seek to explore, entertain, and spark conversation.

Architecturally, Stylistically, and Visually Appealing

We’re looking for stories which have been carefully structured, and edited for grammar, spelling, readability, and cohesiveness. We suggest that writers get help from places like Hemingway App, Grammarly, and friends who can provide critical feedback (prior to submitting your piece!). We publish in United Kingdom English.

Images
All articles should have at least one image. All images must be owned by you or include a cited source. We retain the right to remove images from submissions and replace them with those our editors pick.

Each photo should be accompanied by complete caption. Caption should include details describing the image and date it was taken. Photos of individual(s) must be accompanied by their full name(s). Please be as specific as you can and, always, provide the name of the photographer. If the photo is not taken by yourself, we will require a written permission from the photographer allowing the usage of the photo(s).

Photos must be submitted in high resolution (300dpi, at least 21cm wide). Do not compress the picture when sending. Use email, or free online transfer web site, such as, wetransfer.com to send large images. We accept images supplied a .jpg, .tiff or .eps formats.

Things to Remember

Please Only Submit Unpublished Drafts

We Reserve the Right to Alter and Edit Your Story

The Kreol Magazine team can edit the content of your story if grammatical errors are found, along with adding logos, by-lines, ads, images, etc. to your story.

We’re Looking For Long-Term Relationships
